Sources & Methodology

How QuietRate describes source data, timing, and reference-rate context.

Pre-release status

QuietRate is currently in development. A production exchange-rate source has not yet been approved for release.

Development data

Development builds use built-in sample data for testing and interface development. These values are not provided by a production financial-data source and should not be used for real-world financial decisions.

What will be published before release

Before QuietRate is released publicly, this page will identify the information applicable to the production data configuration, including:

QuietRate will not describe a provider as approved until its use has been reviewed for the way the app actually displays, stores, and derives rate information.

Effective date and retrieval time

These describe different things.

Effective date
When a reference rate applies according to its source.
Retrieved at
When QuietRate obtained the data.

A rate retrieved today may therefore carry an earlier effective date.

Reference rates are not offered rates

Reference exchange rates are informational values. They are not necessarily the rate available to you in a transaction.

Banks, card networks, merchants, money-transfer providers, and other services may apply different timing, spreads, fees, conversion methods, or proprietary rates.

QuietRate is not intended to provide tradable quotes.
